Joachim (John) W. Sturm age 74 of Blanchard, passed away February 15, 2023 at Margaret Meadows, Remus.

John was born November 7, 1948 in Plauen, Germany. He was the son of Wolfgang H. and Kaethe Schneider Sturm. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many including his dog, Cricket. An avid outdoors man, hunting and fishing were his passions. He attended technical school for heating/cooling and was a Maintenance Manager, general handyman, part time farmer and enjoyed a dry sense of humor which he eagerly shared. He was a man with a rough exterior but a large heart for those he loved and anyone who needed his help.

He is survived by his daughter, Shannon Sturm Newman (David), grandson Bryan, granddaughter Kristina, sister Kathe Sturm, brother Uwe (Inga) Sturm, sister Karen (Mike) Richmond, brother Frank (Leisa) Sturm, sister Heidi Fountain of Nevada, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. John also had special friends Sarah and her children. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Kaethe and Wolfgang Sturm and his nephew, CW3 Barry W. Fountain.

Cremation has taken place as he requested. A memorial and celebration of life will be advised at a later date.
