LABONTE, JOEL EDWARD, age 55, of Shepherd passed away unexpectedly Friday, May 11, 2018, at his home.
A Memorial Services for Joel will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, May 16, at 1 p.m. with Roger Dunnigan officiating. A Luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue the day of the service from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Joel was born on April 29, 1963, in Calumet, MI, the son of Norman LaBonte and Alice Garon LaBonte. He married Shari LaBonte on August 26, 1995. Joel enjoyed to ride his motorcycle, dirt bike, restoring cars and trucks, hunting, fishing, going exploring, and being on his boat. He loved spending time with his family. Joel had a brilliant mind, creative talents, and compassion for all living things.

Joel is survived by his wife, Shari LaBonte; daughter, Heather LaBonte Hesselink; adopted son, Tony (Ashley) Spencer; parents; and grandchildren, Joel and Haleigh Spencer.

Joel was preceded in death by his brothers, Norman J. and Gregory LaBonte.
