Obituary for John Legner
LEGNER, JOHN, age 88, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Gladwin and Rochester, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Laurels of Mt. Pleasant.
Cremation will take place. There will be no services. Internment of ashes will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
John was born Johannes Legner on November 20, 1930, in Czechoslovakia, the son of Anton and Elizabeth (Springer) Legner. He married Barbara Young on October 21, 1961 in Tawas City. She preceded him in death on March 13, 2017. John worked for Chrysler Corporation for 30 years, and retired December 31, 1990. He was a lifetime member of the 4th Degree of Knights of Columbus and was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gladwin. John was an avid golfer, loved yardwork and his dogs. He enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the country in his motorhome.
John is survived by his daughter Nikole (Anthony) Guzman of Anaheim, CA; 2 sons Erick (Natalie) Legner of Big Bear, CA, and John (Carol) Legner of Rosebush, MI; 4 grandchildren: Aleksa, Maks, Andrew, and Nickolaus.
John was preceded in death by his parents; wife Barbara; and sisters Marie and Liesl.
