Obituary for John Russell "Rusty" Mackety
MACKETY, John "Rusty" Russell, age 72, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022, at his home in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral Services for John will be held at Faith Indian Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Doyle Perry officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow at the church. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Memorial donations in memory of John can be made to the Faith Indian Church of the Nazarene.
John was born November 9, 1950, in Saginaw, the son of the late Simon and Mabel (Turner) Stevens. John was adopted at the age of 3 by the late Reverend Samuel and Geneva (Pego) Mackety. He worked for the state of Michigan at the Capital as a maintenance engineer and has built and maintained many apartments and condominiums over the years. John was a proud member of the Faith Indian Church of the Nazarene, a church he helped build. He loved spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing. John traveled to hunt and traveled all along the southwest working on Native American homes and churches. He rarely took a trip without bringing his tools.
John is survived by his three children, Shawn (Monica) Mackety, Carson Mackety, Shannon (Dustin) Mackety; grandchildren, Christian Mackety, Owen Mackety, Olivia Mackety, Carson Jr. Mackety, Taylor Mackety, Samatha Mackety, Jason Mackety, Nicole Mackety; great-grandchildren, Kira Schimdt, Laytin Schimdt, Lilith Mackety; brother, Theodore (Dianna) Stevens.
John is preceded in death by both parents; Simon and Mabel (Turner) Stevens and Reverend Samuel and Geneva (Pego) Mackety; and many siblings.
