Obituary for Joyce M. Holmes (Lininger)
Joyce M Holmes of Houghton Lake, Michigan passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 17, 2020. Joyce was born October 30, 1959 in Lansing Michigan the daughter of Larry and Shirley (Kehres) Lininger. Joyce was united in marriage to Mr. Jerry Homes on January 22, 1993 in Mason Michigan.
Joyce graduated from Lansing Community College in 1978 with her Licensed Practical Nursing degree and retired from Sparrow Hospital-Lansing in 1995 after 20 plus years of service. She owned and operated a successful mortgage company in Gladwin, MI from 1996-2008. Her favorite job was bartending at Old Town Tavern of Houghton Lake. Joyce was a member of the Eagle, Moose and Elks Clubs where she volunteered and crocheted with her Happy Hookers group. She enjoyed gardening, boating, water skiing and painting. Joyce loved life and people.
Surviving is her loving husband of twenty-seven years, Mr. Jerry Holmes of Houghton Lake, one daughter Becky Wheeler of Howell, MI, three sons Mike Wheeler (Shae) of Appleton, Wisconsin, Chris Holmes of Aberdeen, South Dakota and Jesse Holmes (Joni) of Frederick, South Dakota, fourteen grandchildren, and one sister Lorrie Glassford of Capac, Michigan. Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Gail and one brother Brian.
