Obituary for Joyce Ann Curtiss (Wilcox)

CURTISS, JOYCE ANN, age 80, of Weidman passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015, with her family at her side.

Funeral Services for Joyce will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Monday, December 21, at 1 p.m. with Cheryl Davis officiating. A luncheon will follow in the Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends the day of the service from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. It is the family’s wishes that any donations please be made to Woodland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Joyce was born on October 30, 1935, to Fred and Verla Wilcox. She married Richard (Dick) Curtiss on May 22, 1953. Joyce was a homemaker, but did work for the Weidman School for a short time. Joyce enjoyed going to the casino and dancing. Joyce has one son Michael and daughter-in-law Vickie (Tilmann) Curtiss, granddaughter Mandy Van Schalkwyk and her husband Ockie of White Lake, great-grandchildren Maya and Owen Van Schalkwyk.

Joyce was preceded in death by husband Richard, both parents Fred and Verla Wilcox. Richard’s parents Howard and Ruth Curtiss, sisters-in-law Arlene Wilcox, Donna Carr, Evelyn Curtiss, brother-in-laws Gary Gatehouse, Eugene Curtiss, Max Curtiss, John Curtiss, Floyd Jackson, Orval (Spike) Branson, Dennis Carr.

Joyce is survived by one brother Bill Wilcox, sisters Delores Jackson, Pauline Branson, Vada Abbott, Monica (Lee) Parker, Ruth Ann (Don) Oaks, sisters-in-law Judy Curtiss, Liota Curtiss, Charlene Curtiss and Lucille Palmer. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, special family friend Jill Steffke and also many dance friends.
