Obituary for June Ione Walker
June Ione Walker, 93, of Rosebush passed away on February 3, 2021 at Rosebush Manor.
June was born June 19, 1927 in Escanaba MI, the daughter of Artemus and Marian (Juneau) Dupey. June graduated from St Joseph High School in Escanaba in 1945. June married Elmer Walker on December 28, 1946 at St Joseph Church in Escanaba.
June worked in the Delta Country Clerk’s Office for 23 years.
June loved to square dance with Elmer and they were active in the Merry Mixers for over 20 years in the Escanaba area.
June and Elmer moved to the Mount Pleasant, MI area after retirement and were active in church communities there.
Family and friends fondly remember June’s winsome and caring personality. She was always an eager and engaged listener with a subtle and delightful sense of humor. June had a self-sacrificing nature that put others first. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
June is survived by her sons John (Jenny) Walker of Arroyo Grande, CA, and David (Deborah) Walker of Singapore; grandchildren Sarah (James) Bellanca and Seth (Erica) Walker; great-grandchildren Aiden and Caleb Bellanca, nephews Dale Dupey of McFarland, MI, Alan (Linda) Dupey of Oshkosh, WI, Brian (Diane) Dupey of Escanaba, Dennis (Deborah) Dupey of Arkansas; nieces Karen (Jim) Dombrowski of Escanaba, and Carol (Martin) Payne of Spring Lake, MI.
June was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Elmer, parents, brother Fern Dupey, sisters Joyce Dupey and Donna Mahoney, infant daughter, Nancie Gay and niece Arlene Behlendorf.
A Memorial Service for June will be held at a future date and location to be announced. June will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rosebush Manor, to whom the family would like to thank for the caring and loving community they provided to June.
