Obituary for Kathleen F. Emery
EMERY, KATHLEEN F., age 77, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Medilodge of Mt. Pleasant.
Kathy was born July 18, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Trapp) Thompson. She worked as a direct care worker for the Mt. Pleasant Regional Center, retiring in 1996. She married Duane Emery on August 26, 1966. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2019. Kathy was a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles, and Black Creek Conservation Club. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, crossword puzzles, cross stitch, and watching TV. Kathy loved spending time with her family, especially the grandkids. She liked making cards on her computer and cryptograms.
Kathy is survived by her stepdaughters Charlotte McNeal of Mt. Pleasant, Christine (Paul) Davenport of Alma; son-in-law Willis “Skip” Smith of Arizona; 8 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; twin sister Katherine Thompson of Rochester, NY; 3 nieces; 1 nephew; 5 great-nieces; 6 great-nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by her father Raymond Thompson; mother Helen Carroll; stepfather Jack Carroll; sister Rita Thompson; brother John (Joan) Thompson; two stepdaughters Cheryl Smith and Charlene Kappler; son-in-law Red McNeal; and a niece Patti Nadworniak.
A Memorial Service and luncheon will take place Sunday, December 12, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Reflections Reception Center at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with Benjamen Evers officiating. Immediately following the service, burial of ashes will take place at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at Reflections Reception Center after the burial. Memorial contributions may be made to HATS, 1105 S. Isabella Rd., Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
