Obituary for Kathleen Sue Letson

Kathleen Sue (Butcher) Letson, age 70, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away January 25, 2024 at her home.

A Memorial Service for Kathleen will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Donald R. Ferris-McCann officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends on Thursday at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Pleasant First United Methodist Church or H.A.T.S. (Because, Kathleen loved animals, especially her cats). Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Kathleen was born on March 16, 1953, in Midland, the daughter of Gilbert William Butcher and Jane Elizabeth (Mumford) Butcher. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School with the Class of 1971 and earned her bachelor’s degree in Dietetics in 1975. Kathleen was a registered dietician who worked in hospitals in Midland, Flint, Clare and West Branch, as well as hospitals in Jacksonville and Miami, FL. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant First United Methodist Church. Kathleen enjoyed reading, television classics, and home decor. She was an excellent cook, had beautiful flower gardens and enjoyed sewing. In her youth, Kathleen enjoyed water-skiing and spending time at the beach. Kathleen was a loving sister and aunt to all of her family.

Kathleen is survived by her mother, Jane Butcher of Mt. Pleasant; brothers, Michael (Kittie) Butcher of East Lansing, Greg (Bonnie) Butcher of Lake Station, Ron (Keri) Butcher of Madison Heights; nieces and nephews, Patrick Butcher of Haslett, Nicole (Anthony) Butcher-Crawford of Mt. Pleasant, Laura Stadtfeld of Mt. Pleasant, Nick (Skylar) Butcher of Mt. Pleasant, Samantha Butcher of Madison Heights, Olivia Butcher of Madison Heights; great nieces and nephews, Madison, Caden, Nolan, Levi and Forrest; step-nephew, Keith Noble of Clare.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert Butcher, and brothers, Dan Butcher, and Dave Butcher.
