Obituary for Kay Elaine Karcher

KARCHER, KAY ELAINE, age 71, of Blanchard, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Alma.

Cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Millbrook-Rolland Firemen’s Association, 8323 S. West County Line Rd, Blanchard, MI 49310.
Kay was born in Mt. Pleasant on August 29, 1949, the daughter of Willard and Doris (Youngs) Haenke. She graduated from Montabella High School with the Class of 1967, then earned her bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University. Kay married Dale Jon Karcher in Blanchard on April 14, 1973. She recently retired from substitute teaching throughout the Mid-Michigan area after many years. Kay was a member of Millbrook Free Methodist Church and was a medical first responder for Millbrook-Rolland Fire Department.

Kay will be forever loved and missed by all her family and friends. Mostly, she will be remembered for her happy, caring, generous, and amazing personality. She was always there to talk to or help anyone she could. Kay was full of pizazz, wit, and her sense of humor was like none other.

Kay is survived by her husband Dale Karcher; sons Jarot (Laura) Karcher and Jon (Kelly) Karcher, all of Blanchard; grandchildren Madelyn (Cade) Andersen, Alyvia Karcher (Luke Recker), Kenzie Karcher, and Kain Karcher; brother Dan Haenke of Blanchard; sisters Carol (Larry) Parks of Casa Grande, AZ, Jayne (Marty) VandenHeuvel of Blanchard; in-laws Gladys Starks, Glenna Kimmell, Alice (Cliff) Hitchcock, Cindy Karcher, Randy (Pam) Karcher; special friends Ron and Jackie Helmer and Barb Turcotte and the Saturday morning coffee crew; and many nieces and nephews who will remember aunt Kay as the “fun aunt.”

Kay was preceded in death by her parents; brother Daryl (Wanda) Haenke; sister-in-laws Barbara Haenke, Onalee Houghton, Bonnie (Melvin) Letson; brother-in-law Bill Karcher; and nephew Kevin Haenke.
