Kenneth “Doc” Arden Bauder 84 of Clare, passed away at his home surrounded by family on Saturday, October 6, 2018. Kenneth was born August 28, 1934 in Flint, Michigan the son of Francis Harold Bauder and Stella Emelyne (Burton) Bauder. Kenneth graduated from Clare Public Schools in 1953. While attending high school, Kenneth enlisted in the United States Navy Reserve and upon his high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and honorably served his country during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Bauder was united in marriage to Ms. Phyllis Alma Goodenow on June 18, 1954 in Clare.
Doc had resided in Clare since 1954, moving from Loomis, Michigan and formerly from Flint. Mr. Bauder was a member of the American Legion Post 404 of Harrison. From the late 1970’s until the Mid 1980’s, Ken was a Boy Scout troop leader for the Clare area. Kenneth enjoyed photography, building model cars, planes, ships and space ships. When he was a young man, he built and raced sprint cars until his mother told his to quit, as it was too dangerous. Kenneth enjoyed bird watching, hunting, welding, watching old westerns, especially those with John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. Doc always wanted to learn a new trade or skill.
Surviving Kenneth is his loving wife of sixty-four years, Mrs. Phyllis A. Bauder of Clare, two daughters; Diana Blair and husband Mike of Clare and Jeanette Schmidt and husband Mike of Gladwin, Michigan, two sons; Kenneth Stanley Bauder and wife Sandra of Clare and Rochester Hills, Michigan and Eric Bauder and wife Maria of Pontiac, Michigan, nine grandchildren; Heather, Stefanie, Kimberly and husband Eric, Amanda and her fiancé, Frank, Rosa, Maria Victoria, Sergio, Rubi and Maria Aileen, five great-grandchildren; Dade, Dyanna, Gabby, Evelyn and Alyce, two sisters; Lois Ellen Bauder-Babcock of Colorado and Carol Mae Bauder also of Colorado, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Mr. Bauder was preceded in death by his parents.
Celebration of Life services for Mr. Bauder will be held Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. from Clare Church of the Nazarene, 10160 South Grant Avenue, Clare, Mi. 48617, with Pastor Jim Young officiating. Military honors will be presented under the auspices of the American Legion Post 404 Honor Guard. Memorial gifts in memory of Mr. Bauder may be considered to the Bauder Family, in care of Phyllis A.
