Obituary for Kerry Dale Whitaker
Kerry Dale Whitaker 68 of Harrison passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 2, 2019. Kerry was born August 17, 1950 in Owosso, Michigan, the son of Kermit C. and June Edith (Burl) Whitaker.
Mr. Whitaker had resided in Harrison since 1992, moving from Beaverton, Michigan. Kerry spent many years as a block mason and construction worker. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, waterskiing, sitting around the campfire visiting with family and friends, telling stories and drinking a cold beer. Kerry was an avid Detroit Tigers fan, watching many televised games or listening to the games on his truck radio. Many will remember Kerry’s ability to fix anything and would consider him a “jack of all trades”.
Surviving Mr. Whitaker is his wife of fifty years, Ann D. (Blackledge) Whitaker of Harrison, two daughters; Kelli Whitaker of Harrison and Jenn Sizemore and husband Jamie of Harrison, one son, Kasey Whitaker and wife Carrie of Harrison, his seven grandchildren, one great-grandson and two brothers; Larry Whittaker of Beaverton and Jerry Whitaker and wife Kathie of Farwell, Michigan, plus many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Kerry was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Sally Houseman and Connie Strahota and his beloved fur child, Maddie.
A memorial celebration honoring Kerry will be held Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at his son and daughter in laws home, 979 Old State Road, Harrison, Michigan 48625.
