Obituary for Larry Elden Miller

MILLER, LARRY ELDEN, age 79, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland.

Funeral Services for Larry will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021, at 3 p.m. at Central Michigan Christian Church with Pastor Dan Siedlecki officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will immediately follow at Denver Township Cemetery. The family is requesting no flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any of the following organizations: Mt. Pleasant VFW Post #3033, Joshua’s House, or Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Larry was born January 9, 1942, in Flint, the son of Jesse and Dorothy (Pifer) Miller. He was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School class of 1962. Larry married Barbara E. Prout on August 25, 1962. Larry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, retiring as Lieutenant Colonel. He earned two master’s degrees in education and business. Larry was a Professor of Business Marketing at Northwood and Davenport Colleges. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant VFW Post #3033, founding father of the Dirty Dog Duck Club. He attended Central Michigan Christian Church and was at peace with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Larry was also a founding member of the Isabella County Tea Party Group and served as a Michigan delegate to the republican party.

Larry’s favorite pastime was spending time with his family, especially at the farm camping together. He loved his dogs, Delta and Sunny. Larry enjoyed the outdoors; duck and deer hunting, traveling, and camping. Larry loved his H.O. model trains and networking with other train enthusiasts.

Larry is survived by his wife Barbara Miller; children Carrie (Ed) Manning of Severn, MD, Julie (Mike) Viele of Midland, Matthew (Andrea) Miller of Rosebush; grandchildren Caitlin (Will) Hard, Brooke Viele, Jordyn (Terry) Babosh, Arielle Halsey, and Chase Halsey; brother David (Elizabeth) Miller of Mt. Pleasant; and sister Bonnie (Jay) Kerney of Granada ad Virginia Beach.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents.
