Obituary for Larry Morgenstern
Larry Morgenstern, a lifelong resident of Mt Pleasant, passed peacefully away at home, at the age of 81 on June 8, 2021.
Larry is survived by his wife of 60 years, Felice Morgenstern and all 7 of his children; Becky (Kevin) Sides of Weidman, Dan Morgenstern of Mt Pleasant, Ruthanne Morgenstern of Harrison, Larry (Michelle) Morgenstern of Monroe, Maggie (Don) Cashen of Mt Pleasant, Steve Morgenstern of Weidman, and Millie (Wayne) Brown of Bluemont VA.
Larry was born in Mt Pleasant on January 15, 1940 to Herman and Ida Mae (Willey) Morgenstern. He graduated from Mt Pleasant High School and then met his future wife, a young CMU student from Grosse Pointe Farms. They married in 1961 and immediately started their family, raising them all in his childhood home on the West Side of Mt Pleasant. Larry eventually settled into his career at CMU where he was affectionately known by many as just “Dad”, retiring after 20 years.
Larry’s greatest pleasures in life were his vegetable garden whereas he was known to share all the bounties of his harvest, his passion for hunting and fishing and his obsession with fireworks and a good old bon-fire.
Larry also leaves behind his 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Services have been entrusted to Clark Family Funeral Chapel with cremation to take place at Daisy Hill. Per Larry’s request, there will be no funeral service but we will have a celebration of life in July. In lieu of flowers please consider instead a donation to the family, or to McLaren Hospice.
