Obituary for Lester Stamper
Lester Stamper age 81 of Harrison passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 12, 2022. Lester was born February 3, 1941, in Crandon, Wisconsin the son of John Henry Stamper Sr. and Stella Mae (Ashley) Stamper. Lester was united in marriage to Ms. Joanne C. Bayliss on June 11, 1960, in Rochester, Michigan. Mrs. Stamper preceded Lester in death on December 16, 2021, after sixty-one years of marriage.
Mr. Stamper had resided in Harrison since 1978, moving from Howell, Michigan. Lester previously owned and operated Stamper Concrete for over twelve years, was employed with Gamble’s Redi-Mix and Weldon’s Transit Mix for numerous years as well as working beside his sons at Stamper Septic. Lester enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, woodworking, cooking meals for his family, and butchering livestock and deer.
Surviving Mr. Stamper are his three children: David Stamper and wife Pam of Harrison, Kimberly Fuller and husband Marc of Deltona, Florida and Kevin Stamper and wife Jackie of Harrison, seven grandchildren: Alicia Myers and husband Josh, Alexander Stamper and wife Kelli, Aaron Stamper and wife Savanna, Shaun Fuller, Zachary Fuller, Makayla Stamper and Austin “Auggie” Stamper, six great-grandchildren: Cameron Fuller, Quincy Myers, Aubrey Myers, Remington Stamper, Ayden Fuller and Peyton Stamper, one brother, Ralph Stamper and wife Pansy of Leona, Wisconsin, two sisters: Irene Petrosky of Howell and Faye Nagel and husband Leroy also of Howell, plus many nieces, nephews and extended family. Mr. Stamper also was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Alma Mae Bowman and six brothers: Edgar, Bill, Hank, Tom, Ray and Elmer.
Celebration of Life services honoring Mr. Stamper will be held Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. from Clark-Stocking Funeral Chapel, 165 W. Oak St., Harrison with Chaplain Michael Petrosky officiating. A time of gathering and visiting will be held Thursday, November 17, 2022, from 11:30 a.m. until time of service. Inurnment will be in Frost Township Cemetery, Harrison. Memorial gifts in memory of Lester may be considered to the Stamper Family, to assist with funeral expenses.
