Obituary for Letha "Maxine" Welch

On Wednesday, July 3, 2019, Maxine Welch, loving mother and grandmother, passed away at age 91.

In her early years Maxine worked as an usherette at the Ward Theatre, later in the business offices for Giant Supermarkets and then for 25 years as a pharmacy tech at Central Michigan Community Hospital. During retirement Maxine loved tending her flowers in the summer, raking leaves in the fall and shoveling snow from her driveway and sidewalks as well as the sidewalks of her neighbors throughout the winter months. She could also be seen walking to Ric’s with her pull cart for groceries, but more importantly to socialize with the employees.

Maxine’s family would like to extend special thanks to niece and nephew Janice and Gary Smith for their many years of support to Maxine with the necessities of life so that she was able to stay in the home she loved. Thanks also to neighbor Brenda Kerr who was a great friend to Maxine and Steve Mitchell who was a special friend to both Jack and Maxine. Lastly, thank you to longtime friend and neighbor Shirley Rondy and Shirley’s children, Don, Jim, Jane and Mary Jo for their friendship and support.

Maxine was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 61 years, Jack L. Welch. Also preceding Maxine in death were her sisters Arlene Schrot and Betty Brown and their husbands Leonard and Ken respectfully, and brother Donal (Scuff) Bauder.

Maxine is survived by her daughter Lynn, Lynn’s husband Col. William D. Gould M.D. (ret.), and grandsons Brett and Blair. Also surviving is sister-in-law Bonnie Bauder, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Honoring Maxine’s wishes, there were no funeral services.
