Libardo “Mike” Rondan 89 of Harrison passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, October 13, 2018. Libardo was born June 26, 1929 in Wayne County, Michigan the son of Rosalio and Inos (Harrison) Rondan. Mike graduated in 1946 from Highland Park High School, Highland Park, Michigan. Shortly after his graduation, Libardo began his career working with Koepplinger’s Bakery Inc. of Oak Park, Michigan as an over the road truck driver, dedicating thirty-two years of service and over a million miles on his log book.
Upon Mike’s retirement from Koepplinger’s Bakery Inc, in 1982, he moved to Harrison from Mount Clemens, Michigan, to assist with the care of his father. Soon after Libardo moved to Harrison, he joined United Rescue Ambulance Service of Harrison and began working as an EMT and furthered his medical training and earned his EMT Specialist certification, which led him to twenty-five years of medical care to many in the Clare County community. Mike then spent many years as a board member of United Rescue Ambulance Service, giving his time and knowledge for the continuation of superior care to the patients of Clare County. At the same time Mike was working with United Rescue Ambulance Service, he also became a school bus driver with Harrison Community Schools, spending twenty years, safely transporting the children of Harrison to school. Mike was very involved in the Harrison Lions Club for many years, and at one time, held the office of Club President. Mr. Rondan’s passion was golfing; he spent many days off work and vacations golfing with his family and friends. Mike spent over fifteen years traveling each year during spring break with his sons and close friends to Biloxi, Mississippi for a week of golfing and making memories. Mike also enjoyed bowling, casino trips throughout Michigan, and socializing with people. On March 29, 1994 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Mr. Rondan was united in marriage to Marian Louise (Nash) Mathews.
Surviving Mike is his loving wife of twenty-four years, Mrs. Marian L. Rondan of Harrison, two sons; Bart Rondan and wife Tish of Hazel Park, Michigan and Tony Rondan and wife Angela of Madison Heights, Michigan, two daughters; Kimberly Davis and husband David of Harrison and Kelly Crofoot and husband Tim of Harrison, two step-daughters; Denise Goodenow and husband Charles of Harrison and Deanna Bailey and husband Ronald also of Harrison, two step-sons; Dale Mathews of Gladwin and David Mathews also of Gladwin, twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, his lifelong friend, Dave Moross of Stanwood, Michigan, plus a host of extended family members and friends. Mr. Rondan was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Inita Edwards, two brothers; Leo Louis Rondan and Jaraldo Rondan, two grandchildren, one brother in law, Bud Norman and one sister in law, Marian L. Rondan.
Funeral services celebrating Mike will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison. Visitation will take place Tuesday, October 16, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison. Burial will be in St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery, Harrison.
