Lisa Gail McCatty passed away at her home on September 10, 2023, at the age of 56. Lisa Gail leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and cherished memories.

Lisa Gail is survived by her mother, Constance Grey (Creig). She was preceded in death this June by her father, Duane McCatty, whom she missed dearly. She is also survived by Duane’s wife, Sharon McCatty, and her sons, Greg Fugate and Geoff Fugate (Kim).

Lisa Gail held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews. Left to mourn are Courtney Soberal (John), Cody Yazzie, Alexander McCatty (Melissa Phillips), Mindy Coleman (Michael), Macy Hyde (Donald), Melvin Smith, and Matt Smith.

Lisa Gail was born with Prader-Willi syndrome, a rare genetic disorder, and lived independently for the last two decades with the assistance of her caring staff. Countless others provided support throughout the years: her extended family, her Community Mental Health team, her former staff, and her Special Olympics family helped shape her life journey.

Lisa Gail’s interests and passions were diverse. She loved Special Olympics events, coaches, and athletes – go Area 7! Lisa Gail loved watching her game shows and soap operas, fishing from Grandpa’s dock, and her Detroit Lions. Her friendships were a source of immense happiness, and she loved her card games. Lisa Gail’s laughter, especially her belly laughs, are cherished and were so special and contagious. As the eldest among her siblings, she embraced being in charge. Lisa Gail’s vibrant spirit touched the lives of many.

A memorial service to celebrate Lisa Gail’s life will be held at Clark Funeral Home, 114 South Bradley Street, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858, on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 1 PM.
