Louis (Red) Levi McNeal, age 81 of Mt. Pleasant went to be home with the Lord on Saturday, December 26, 2020. He passed away unexpectedly at his home with his wife of 45 years, Charlotte and oldest grandson, Parker by his side.
Louis was born in Mt. Pleasant on Saturday, September 23, 1939, the son of Walter McNeal and Goldie (Shade) McNeal. On Friday, August 15, 1975, Red married the love of his life, Charlotte Emery, also of Mt. Pleasant. Shortly after they had two children, Jennifer and John. Red was a hardworking man and family meant everything to him. He took great pride in making sure his family was well taken care of. In 1962, he partnered with Beryl Sandel to run Sandel’s Service in downtown Mt. Pleasant. Red finally transitioned into retirement in 2003, but never missed a day being at the shop and visiting with everyone who came in. Red touched the hearts of lots of individuals and not many would have anything bad to say about him. He loved his grandchildren with all his heart and treasured spending time with each of them.
In additional to his wife, Charlotte, Red is survived by his children: Jennifer (John) Bixby, John (Julie) McNeal; grandchildren: Levi, Alena and Destiny Ferris, and Parker, Kelsey and Myles McNeal, along with his sisters, Rachel Downing and Violet Sawade.
Red was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Goldie McNeal, his father-in-law, Duane Emery and his brothers, Lester McNeal, Elmer McNeal and George McNeal.
Red will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
The family is being served by Clark Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services. Per Red’s wishes, he will be cremated, but there will not be a funeral service at this time. Thank you to all who have expressed their condolences.
