Obituary for Malcolm Le-Grande Batson

Malcolm Le-Grande Batson Jr. 61 of rural Harrison passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 14, 2019. Malcolm was born September 3, 1957 in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Malcolm Le-Grange Batson Sr. and Jacquelyn Marie (Osborne) Batson. Upon graduating from High School, Malcolm enlisted in the United States Navy and honorably served his country.
Mr. Batson had resided in Harrison since 1997, moving from Detroit, Michigan, upon his retirement from Ford Motor Company after dedicating thirty-one years of service as a fork truck operator. On July 12, 1997 in Harrison, Malcolm was united in marriage to the former Darlene Lynn Brooks. Malcolm was an avid hunter, fisherman and remote control helicopter pilot. He enjoyed helping his father in law, John Brooks on the family farm.
Surviving Malcolm is his best friend and wife of twenty-two years, Mrs. Darlene Lynn Brooks-Batson of Harrison, three daughters; Heather La-Londe and husband Aaron of Hudsonville, Michigan, Kaitlyn Kelley and husband Dustin of Spring Lake, Michigan and Taylor Batson of Hudsonville, his parents; Malcolm Le-Grande Batson Sr. of South New Berlin, New York and Jacquelyn M. Glasbergen of Sherburne, New York, three grandchildren; Aiden, Carter and Harper, one sister, Charlene Neuschwander of Flanders, New Jersey, one brother, Mark D. Batson of Redington Shores, Florida, father and mother in law; John and Betty Brooks of Harrison, three sister in laws; Laurie Schug and husband Gary of Gladwin, Michigan, Lois Bruce and husband Steve of Elk Rapids, Michigan and Beth Weakland and husband Brian of Longs, South Carolina, plus many nieces, nephews and his beloved dog, Sandy. Mr. Batson was preceded in death by his brother in law, James Brooks.
A Memorial Gathering honoring Malcolm will be held Saturday, September 21, 2019 with military honors presented under the auspices of American Legion Post 404 Honor Guard.
