Obituary for Margo Ann (Helber) Link

LINK, MARGO ANN (HELBER), age 78, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Saturday, July 6, 2019, at McLaren Bay Medical.

Funeral Services for Margo will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, and 2-3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation-Mt. Pleasant Public Schools Education Fund or Woodland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Margo was born February 3, 1941, in Flint, the daughter of Kenneth and Ruth (Scott) Helber. She was a lifelong Mt. Pleasant resident. She worked as a young girl at the family-owned Log Cabin Record Shop and was a member of the Chippewa Wranglers Riding Club as a teen. She was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School in the Class of 1959 and remained active with her classmates, helping to plan many class reunions. Margo attended Central Michigan University, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in 1963. She joined the Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority and served a term as President of the sorority. While at Central Michigan University, she met her future husband Wally Link. They were married on June 22, 1963.Margo was employed as a school teacher for 25 years with the Mt. Pleasant School System, retiring in 2001. She was an inspirational and compassionate teacher who was dedicated to helping her students. She loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed following her grandchildren’s athletic events. She traveled extensively and loved knitting.

Margo is survived by her husband Walter “Wally” Link of Mt. Pleasant; her children Elizabeth (Scott) MacGregor of Mt. Pleasant and Michael (Amy) Link of Seattle, WA; grandchildren Lauren and Spencer MacGregor and Carter and Whitney Link; and sister Nancy (John) Card of Marshall, MI; sisters-in-law Shirley Helber of Boyne City and Cris Goldberg of Dalton, GA; and many nieces and nephews.

Margo was preceded in death by her parents; brother Richard Helber; and step-mother Virginia Dumon.
