Obituary for Marilyn Avonne Oswald (Christiansen)

OSWALD, MARILYN, age 87, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Elwell, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Prestige Centre from complications of Parkinson’s, dementia, and covid-19.

A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date, with interment at Chapel Gardens. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Care Team Hospice, 5401 Gateway Center, Suite D, Flint, MI 48507. Envelopes will be available at Clark Family Funeral Chapel.

Marilyn was born on December 7, 1933, in Douglas Township, at the family home, daughter of George and Marian (Fosmoen) Christiansen. Marilyn graduated from Stanton with the class of 1952. She married the love of her life, Leland "Oz" Oswald on February 18, 1956. Marilyn worked at different business over the years including Saginaw Savings and Loan, Bank of Alma, and retired from McClure Oil. She enjoyed bowling both in women's and mixed leagues. She spent many hours sewing for her children and then grandchildren. Marilyn and Oz attended many activities their children and grandchildren participated in over the years. After retirement, she enjoyed working in her flowerbeds and vegetable garden. She and Oz enjoyed traveling, and many fun summers were spent camping at School Section Lake. Most of all, Marilyn loved extended family gatherings, and would have one for any reason. Marilyn was happy and proud to have attended the Alma College graduations of both her grandchildren.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Linda of Mt. Pleasant; son, Curtis (Tammy) of St. Louis; grandchildren, Jessica and CJ; and sister, Sharon (Harold) Swindell of Greenville.,

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Victor Christiansen, Harry Christiansen, George "Bud" Christiansen, and David Christiansen; and her beloved husband, Oz.

The family would like to thank The Care Team Hospice for their care. A Special thank you to Prestige Centre. We will always be grateful for the loving and wonderful care Mom received.

We love you Mom. We take comfort in knowing you and Dad are together again.
