Obituary for Marilyn Leigh Titus

Marilyn Leigh Titus, born May 13, 1949, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on May 11, 2021.

An outdoor Memorial Service for Marilyn will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 27, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel under the pavilion in the west lawn with Benjamin Evers officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of Service. A luncheon will immediately follow the Service under the pavilion.

Marilyn was born in Lansing, MI to Douglas and Cecelia Rowe and graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1967. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Carla (Beckwith) Custer, and her sister Cheryl Ann Huff.

Marilyn retired as an Executive Secretary from Central Michigan University in 2012 after 33 years of service. Marilyn always took life as it came, and her calm demeanor, kindness to others and sense of empathy comforted many. Life was very meaningful to her and meant to be enjoyed. She was a deeply spiritual woman, whose faith was especially strong. Marilyn was truly devoted to her husband and family, and was especially close with her four sisters. She loved times with her daughter, Carla, shopping, camping, sightseeing, singing, laughing and traveling. Marilyn was a great daughter, a wonderful friend, an unbelievable wife, a perfect mother, and a storybook grandmother.

She is survived by her loving husband, Kurt Titus; son-in-law, Mike Custer; granddaughter, Amelia (Mia) Custer; sisters Candace Acker, Donna (Dean) Wolverton, and Julia (Jay) Kussmaul; nieces and nephews Michelle (Randy) Maidlow, Christopher (Stephanie) Acker, Douglas Huff, Ashley Huff, Lauren (Matt Fuglie) Kussmaul, Meredith Kussmaul, Andrew Wolverton; step-children Lane (Holli) Titus, Tammy (Jeff) Titus Fahrney, Tim (Jessica) Titus, Dan (Sarah) Titus; step-grandchildren Jessica Fahrney, Travis Fahrney, Paxton Titus, Carver Titus, Frances Titus, Maddox Titus, Benjamin Titus, and Emmylou Titus; great step-granddaughter, Charlie Fahrney; brothers-in-law Terry Huff and Mark (Nancy) Titus; and many special and caring friends.
Marilyn was a very loving and nurturing person and helped to raise her beautiful granddaughter, Mia, who was the shining star in her life.
