Obituary for Marilyn Joan Witbeck (Haut)

WITBECK, MARILYN JOAN, age 89, a longtime resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Fountainview Assisted Living in Portage, MI. in the presence of family.

Funeral Services for Marilyn will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 11 AM with Jenny Connelly and Greg Harger officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral chapel. Burial will take place at Highland Cemetery in Osceola County.

Marilyn was born October 24, 1934, in Midland, Michigan, the daughter of Benjamin Frederick Haut and Norma Mae Matilda (Schultz) Haut. She grew up on a farm in Cheboygan and graduated 3rd in her class. Marilyn served in the Ministry until she met and married James Milne Witbeck on October 2, 1965 in Midland. She worked as a Supervisor for AAA Auto Club, and then as the Office Manager for the House of Cabinets.

Marilyn loved her family and enjoyed the company of and phone calls with her brothers and sisters. She was an elegant ice skater in her younger years. Marilyn was a good cook and gardener and made many beautiful stained glass pieces that she gifted to family and friends. She joined in the activities and crafts at Fountainview Assisted Living where she was cherished by staff and residents for the past year. Marilyn was a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed attending her granddaughter’s sporting events and playing Uno with family.

Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Mary (Mike) Rogers of Schoolcraft, Jami (Bob) Jones of Brighton; grandchildren Rachel (Nick) Minard of Grand Rapids, Vivian Jones and Lilliana Jones of Brighton;, brother Wayne (Bonita) Haut of Lake and Randy (Kathy) Haut of Beardstown, IL; sisters, Dee King, of Midland, Janet Hanson, of Cheboygan, Charlene McNitt of Oxford. and sister-in-law Mary Haut of Florida.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Norma Haut, her husband, James Milne Witbeck, brothers Howard and Glenn Haut, sister Lois Coy, sister-in-law Maribeth Haut, and brothers-in-law, Wayne King, John Coy, and Gerald Hanson.
