Obituary for Mary Alice "Allie" Langlois (McKenna)

Mary Alice “Allie” Langlois (McKenna), age 77, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away peacefully Thursday, October 19, 2023, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Allie was born December 25, 1945, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Charles Paul and Mary J. (MacLellan) McKenna, the oldest of 5 children. She graduated from Saint Alphonsus High School in Dearborn, MI with the Class of 1963. Allie met her former husband Phil in Dearborn, MI. Shortly after marrying, they moved to Mt. Pleasant with the intentions of creating a family and starting a business. Allie worked in real estate by trade. She loved the architectural process of development and had an incredible eye for design and materials. In her role as a landlord, she thoroughly enjoyed working and interacting with the students of CMU. She forged many incredible, lifelong, cherished friendships in the Mt. Pleasant community.

Allie was a kind, giving, caring, loving person. Her thoughtfulness for others was reflected each and every day and will be a lasting tribute to her spirit. She was a deeply faithful person who possessed a quiet strength and a gentle spirit, especially following the tragic loss of her sons, Bryan, and Mark.

Allie was an enthusiastic supporter of H.A.T.S, Art Walk and Women’s Initiative, in addition to being a longtime member of the Mt. Pleasant Tourists Club, Women’s City Club and Faith Weavers. Allie was the epitome of graciousness and quiet generosity. She immersed herself 100% as a volunteer and supporter of organizations that reflected her beliefs and passions. Allie was an avid reader and had a love of travel, especially Europe. Prior to starting a family, she lived and worked in Garmish, Germany. She is a role model for hard work, attention to detail, faithful service, and perfectly planned celebrations. Her love and dedication to her family will leave a beautiful legacy, not of material things, but of great compassion and faith.

Allie is survived by her son Kevin (Melissa) Langlois of Mt. Pleasant; grandson Jaxson Philip Langlois; granddaughter Lauren Olivia Langlois; brother John Patrick McKenna of Corpus Christi, TX; sister Kathleen McKenna of Harlingen, TX; and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Allie was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Mary McKenna; son Bryan Philip Langlois (1986) and Mark Andre Langlois (2021); brothers Robert Charles McKenna, USMC and Daniel John McKenna, and her former husband Philip Andre Langlois (2011).

A Funeral Mass for Allie will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 302 S. Kinney Ave., Mt. Pleasant, on Friday, October 27, 2023, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Loren Kalinowski officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow at Bucks Run Golf Club, 1559 S. Chippewa Rd., Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Clark Family Funeral Chapel, 114 S. Bradley St., Mt. Pleasant, and on Friday, at the church, beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to contribute in memory of Allie are asked to consider Mt. Pleasant Women's City Club, 1525 S. Loomis Road, Mt. Pleasant or The Langlois Family Fund, through the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation, 306 S. University Ave., Mt. Pleasant.
