Obituary for Mary Ellen McArthur (Cole)
Mary Ellen McArthur, age 63, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at home with family by her side after a brief journey with cancer.
The family will receive friends at a public visitation on Sunday, December 20 from 2 - 6 p.m. at Clark Family Funeral Chapel. Mary was born August 17, 1957 to the late Fred and Mary (Scully) Cole. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1976. Mary Ellen went on to work 31 years at the Mount Pleasant Regional Center before she retired in 2009. Throughout her life, Mary Ellen enjoyed spending time with her family, especially camping, where she took much pride in beating the men at euchre. Most of all, she loved spending time spoiling her grandkids.
Mary Ellen is survived by her husband of 39 years, Timothy McArthur; children, Matthew (Sara Rolston) McArthur, and Elizabeth (Jason) Schafer; five grandchildren, Darren, Julian, Kole, Brody, and Brynlee; Siblings, Bernadette (John) Herreshoff, Kathleen Cole, Margaret (Ernie) Fulk, Marilyn Cole, James (Beverly) Cole, Joanne (Mike) Lamb, Betty (Ray) Roethlisberger; Sister in-law, Jeannie (Ed Boetcher) McGuire; Sister in-law, Cathy (Jim) VanSyckle; Sister in-law, Doris McArthur; Brother in-law, Rick (Dawn) McArthur; along with many beloved neices and nephews.
Mary Ellen is preceeded in death by her parents; Brother in-law, David McArthur; Brother in-law, Larry McArthur; Sister in-law Betty McArthur; Father in-law, Eugene McArthur; Mother in-law Edith McArthur; and close friend, Janet Schupbach.
