Obituary for Mary Lee Pearson (Curns)
Mary Lee (Curns) Pearson of Harrison passed away May 24, 2023 at North Woods Nursing Home in Farwell, she was 90.
Mary was born July 8, 1932 in Houghton Lake Michigan to Harley and Nellie (VanBenschoten) Curns. They preceded her in death. On July 8, 1950 she married Lester B. Pearson and he preceded her in death on September 13, 1971. She then was united in marriage to Frank J. Pearson Oct 21, 1975 moved to Kalkaska until they bought Mary’s Red Rooster Restaurant in Harrison. Frank preceded her in death June 7, 1997.
Mary’s favorite pastime hobbies include going to various casinos throughout Michigan, fishing on local lakes and streams with her family, family camping trips and loved playing bingo with her friends at the Senior Hall.
Mrs. Pearson is survived by her children: Connie Wheat (husband Don) of Marion, Tonya Pearson of Harrison, Lester Pearson (wife Mary) of Marion, Robert Pearson (wife Judy) of Harrison, Patricia Eves (husband Mark) of Kalkaska. 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren. Siblings 4 sisters: Vicky Searles of St Johns. Carol Bedard of Falmouth, Rita Duma of Harrison and Robyn Monville of St. Johns, Michigan, three brothers: Bruce Curns of Harrison, David Curns of Ypsilanti, Michigan and Robert Curns of Harrison, 4 step- children: Stanley Pearson and wife of Gaylord, Amie and husband of Kalkaska, Roger Pearson of Alabama and Leon Pearson and wife of Grand Rapids, Michigan plus many nieces, nephews and extended family. Mary was preceded in death by two husbands, a daughter Jennie, two grandsons, one step-child, two brothers, and two sisters.
Celebration of Life services honoring Mary will be held Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from Summerfield Township Hall, 9971 North Finley Lake Avenue, Harrison, with Pastor Jerry Britton officiating. Family and friends are encouraged to gather for memory sharing and stories on Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Inurnment will immediately follow service at Summerfield Township Cemetery, Harrison.
