Obituary for Marylyn Kay Olson

Olson, Marylyn Kay, age 84, beloved wife of John, mother of six, grandmother of 14 and great-grandmother of 10 passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at her home with her loving family by her side. She leaves her family with cherished and loving memories as she journeys into her eternal life.

A Funeral Mass for Kay will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 4, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Fr. Loren Kalinowski officiating. Rite of Committal will take place in Calvary Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at Reflections Reception Center at Clark Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, September 3, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel. A rosary will be prayed that evening at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass on Saturday, September 4. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel and the church.

Marylyn Kay was born April 11, 1937, in Shepherd, the daughter of Donald and Ersaldean (Conklin) Packer. Kay married John Olson on August 22, 1953, at St. Vincent De Paul Church in Shepherd. She was a homemaker. She provided a loving home and dearly loved her family. A member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Kay was a devout Roman Catholic and faithful to God. Kay enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and other handicrafts.

Kay is survived by her six children, Kathy (Ken) Hibler of Lafayette, IN, Mike (Nancy) Olson of Blanchard, Carla (Joe) Stein of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Pat Olson of Mt. Pleasant, Tim Olson of Mt. Pleasant and Sue (Bob) Bowlby of Mt. Pleasant; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents; husband John Carl Olson on March 26, 2012; grandsons, Brent Olson and Blake Shipman; great-grandson, Alejandro Pierce; brothers Bob, Ray and Gary Packer and daughter-in-law, Judy (Schutt) Olson
