Matthew Jude Bohrer took his Savior’s hand and completed his earthly journey on February 13, 2023. Matt was born to Joseph Douglas and Mary Jane Bohrer on December 28, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan. A fragile baby with cognitive challenges, Matt brought his family much joy. Matt embraced life wholeheartedly and enjoyed listening to music and doing his favorite activity, walking. He helped with simple household tasks and enjoyed being mischievous. Matthew was blessed with a loving family, good health, and supportive caregivers. He was loved very much. He was preceded in death by his parents and special sister, Mary Ann. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters and brothers: Janet (Patrick) Scheetz, John (Clara) Bohrer, brother-in-law Robert Plagany, Patricia (David) Brand, and Douglas (Peggy) Bohrer. Also surviving are nieces and nephews: Dominique Scheetz Stuart, Jeff Plagany, Michael Scheetz, Anna Plagany Steen, Danielle Scheetz, Kathleen Bohrer, Daniel Plagany, and Christopher Bohrer. Many great nieces and nephews also survive him.
Matthew’s funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on February 28, 2023, at Our Lady-Sorrows Catholic Church in Farmington, Michigan. He will be interred immediately following Mass at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Special Olympics Michigan, Mt Pleasant, Mich; St. Paul of the Cross Passionist Retreat and Conference Center, Detroit, Michigan; or the 100th Bomb Group (Heavy) Foundation.
Matthew will live on in lives impacted through his eye donation. Matt is finally at Peace and with his God.
