Obituary for Matthew Nott Porritt
PORRITT, MATTHEW NOTT, age 67, of Blanchard, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at his home.
A Memorial Service for Matt will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 1 p.m. with Simon Porritt and Barry Flanders officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 12 p.m. until the time of the service. A Celebration of Life will follow beginning at 5 p.m. at Matt’s house, 1780 Millbrook Rd., Blanchard. Interment of ashes will take place at Decker Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Mecosta County Commission on Aging. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Matt was born in Pontiac, Michigan, February 22, 1955, the son of Donald and Mary (Nixon) Porritt, Jr. He was an avid reader, golfer, and had a talent for woodworking. Matt will be remembered for his laughter, good stories, and hosting friends for a drink.
Matt is survived by his sons, Tim (Carolynn) Porritt of Midland, Simon (Kathryn) Porritt of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren Ian, Aiden, Spencer, Shane, Ezra, Nicholas; brothers, Donald “Chuck” Porritt, III of Michigan, William (Diana) Porritt of New Hampshire.
Matt was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers Andrew and David.
