Obituary for Melody Ann Wheaton

WHEATON, MELODY ANN, age 56, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Friday, April 29, 2016, at her parents’ home in Fenwick.

Funeral Services for Melody will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, May 3, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with Pastor Doyle Perry officiating. The family will receive friends on the Tuesday, May 3, from 11 a.m. until time of Service. A luncheon will follow the Service in the Reflections Reception Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Appendix Cancer Pseudomyxoma Peritonei Research Foundation, 6415 Granger Road, Suite 200, Independence, OH 44131. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Melody was born on March 21, 1960, in Sheridan, Michigan, the daughter of Thomas and Nancy (Smalley) Sebring. She graduated from Harry Hill High School in 1978. She then attended MJ Murphy Beauty School where she received her cosmetician license. Melody had a beauty shop in her home for many years. For the past 13 years, she had worked as a switchboard operator for the Soaring Eagle. Melody married Delford Wheaton on April 1, 2013. She was a member of the Faith Indian Church of the Nazarene. Melody enjoyed crocheting, scrapbooking and arts and crafts. She also enjoyed NASCAR. Melody loved spending time with her nieces and nephews and entertaining friends and family.

Melody is survived by her parents, Thomas and Nancy Sebring of Fenwick; her sisters Sherol (Don) Jones of Martin, TN, Michele (Glen) Babb of Columbia, TN, and Sandra (Pete) Holliday of Charlotte, MI; brother Thomas (Missy) Sebring of Grand Ledge, MI; nieces Danielle Jones, Heather Holliday, Brittney, Jennifer and Emma Sebring; nephews Brandon (Sarah) Babb, Tanner (Teina) Babb and Joshua Holliday; great-nephew Brooks Babb and soon to be born great-nephew Harrison Babb; many aunts and uncles; brother-in-law Thomas Wheaton; step-son Chris (Linda) Higgins and grandchildren Megan and Logan Higgins.

Melody was preceded in death by her husband Delford Wheaton on November 24, 2015 and her grandparents, Allen and Blanche Sebring and Ralph and Leota Smalley.
