Obituary for Michael Herbert "Mike" Carr
Michael “Mike” Herbert Carr 72 of rural Clare County, Michigan passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, May 8, 2019. Michael was born July 30, 1946 in Hudson, Michigan the son of Herbert Glen Carr and Mary Grace (Pifer) Carr. Upon graduating high school, Mr. Carr enlisted in the United States Air Force and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. On December 21, 1967 in Pittsford, Michigan, Michael was united in marriage to Ms. Marjorie Jean Letherer.
Mike had resided in rural Clare County since 2011, moving from Detroit, Michigan. He is a faithful member of Brown Evangelistic Ministries of Detroit. Mike owned and operated Carr’s Restoration from 1986 until his retirement in 2018. He enjoyed travelling around the United States with his son, caring for the Church’s grounds, reading, making memories with his grandchildren and striking up a good conversation with friends and complete strangers.
Surviving Michael is his loving wife of fifty-one years, Mrs. Marjorie Jean Carr of Harrison, one son, Bill Carr and wife Laurie of Whitmore Lake, Michigan, one daughter, Roxie Mateik and husband Paul of Memphis, Michigan, three grandchildren; Lane Carr, Justyn Carr and Erin Carr, one sister, Rosemary Sines and husband John of Pittsford, two brothers; Jerry Carr of Hillsdale, Michigan and Victor Carr and wife Valerie of Pittsford, plus many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Carr was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Charles Carr and Dennis Carr.
Funeral services honoring Mr. Carr will be held Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. from Campbell Stocking Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 408 West Main Street, Farwell, Michigan 48622, with Brown Evangelistic Ministries officiating. Visitation will take place on Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 11:30 a.m. until time of Service. Military honors will be under the auspices of the United States Air Force. Burial will be in the Mary-Lou Brown Memorial Garden Cemetery, Lake George, Michigan. Memorial gifts in memory of Mr. Carr may be considered to: Brown Evangelistic Ministries, P.O.
