Obituary for Michael Kyran McCrackin

McCrackin, Michael Kyran
October 23, 1952 - November 18, 2022

"There is no other love like the love for a brother.
There is no other love like the
love from a brother."

Michael Kyran McCrackin, beloved husband of Judy, proud father of Gage, passed away peacefully at home, November 18, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Mike was born in Carson City, Michigan, the youngest child of Kyran and Ellen (McMillan) McCrackin. His eight older siblings survive him.

Mike is sorely missed by the siblings he loved so dearly: Jack (Alice) McCrackin, Kate (Ron) Brown, Florence Kavanagh, Jean Richardson, Larry (Becky) McCrackin, Margie Hyde, Connie (Barry) Sacks and Sue (Allen) Goldstein.

Also left to mourn is his family by marriage, sons: Justin and Benjamin Hatt and their sons: Jerome, Jonah, Griffin, Dylan, Seth, and Cyril Hatt; mother-in-law: Bonnie Schrock, sisters-in-law: Connie Latham and Debora Parnell, many nephews, nieces, cousins and loyal lifelong friends.

Mike attended Carson City High School where he played all sports and graduated in 1971. He took classes at MCC and CMU before starting his career in the petroleum industry, retiring in 2016. Mike was an avid reader, enjoyed classic movies, polka music, trains, golf, Red Wing Hockey, Detroit Tigers, his dog, Stella, grilling, nature, time spent with his family and all things Irish.

Mike was well-traveled, however, his favorite place remained the McCrackin Brothers and Sons Centennial Farms in Carson City, Michigan. His joy was farming with brothers, Jack and Larry and nephews, David and Perry, always ending their dusty day congregating at Larry’s Lounge.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law, Larry Kavanagh, Larry Richardson and Gilbert Hyde, sister-in-law, Beverly McCrackin, niece, Michelle McCrackin and father-in-law, Ken Schrock.

The family thanks all who provided excellent care throughout his cancer illness and the many who showed much love and support.

There will be a Remembrance Tribute on Monday, November 28, 2022 from 11a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant VFW Post, 4841 E. Pickard Rd. Tributes begin at 12 p.m. and a luncheon will follow.

The family requests no flowers please. Those wishing to honor Mike may consider Veterans Memorial Library, 301 S University Ave, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858, OR Carson City Public Library, 102 W Main St. Carson City, MI 48811.
