Obituary for Ormond Floyd Meyer

Ormond Floyd Meyer 93 of Freeman Township, rural Clare County, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at his daughter’s home in Acworth, Georgia. Ormond was born September 23, 1925 in Dearborn, Michigan, the son of Paul and Wilhelmina (Kiehl) Meyer. Mr. Meyer honorably served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. On July 25, 1947 in Farmington Hills, Michigan, Floyd was united in marriage to Ms. Marion Jean Vanderburgh preceded him in death on May 17, 2008.
Mr. Meyer had resided in Freeman Township since 1987, moving from Plymouth, Michigan. Floyd was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Harrison.
Surviving Mr. Meyer is his daughter, Susan Meyer, one granddaughter, Sarah Dunn and husband Mathew, one grandson, Adam Dryden and wife Laura, one sister, Wilda Christiansen, three great-grandchildren; Henry Dunn, Hallie Ann Dunn and Meyer Dryden, one nephew, Michael Opel and wife Kathy and one niece, Pat Cameron. Ormond was predeceased by his sister, Grace Meyer, two brothers; Donald Meyer and Orville Meyer, his parents; Paul and Wilhelmina Meyer, one daughter, Kathleen (Meyer) Dryden and one son, Paul Meyer.
Funeral services honoring Mr. Meyer were held Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. from St. Luke Lutheran Church, Harrison with Pastor Michael Schaedig officiating. Burial was in Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park, Livonia, Michigan. Memorial gifts in memory of Ormond may be considered to: St. Luke Lutheran Church, Harrison.
