Obituary for Paul Jackson Jr.

JACKSON, PAUL JR. age 91, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital.

Funeral services for Paul will be held at 1 p.m. at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Saturday, March 26, 2022 with Sam McClellan officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service. Paul will be laid to rest at Woodland Cemetery. A luncheon will follow burial at Seventh Generation Elijah Elk Culture Center. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at Clark Family Funeral Chapel.

Paul was born May 22, 1930, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of Paul and Mary (Stevens) Jackson Sr. He married Vivian Lorraine (Collins) Jackson on July 1, 1966. Paul proudly served in the United States Army. He was self-employed over 25 years as a buffer and polisher. Paul and Vivian were evangelical missionaries who traveled throughout the United States for many years. He was a proud member of the Pokagon Band Tribe. Paul enjoyed playing baseball in his youth, watching the Detroit Tigers, fishing, arts and crafts, basket weaving, tending to his garden, hunting, travelling, singing, playing his guitar and rooting for the Michigan State University football team. Most of all, Paul loved spending time with his family.

Paul is survived by his four children: Barbara (Simon) Arzola of Mt. Pleasant, Vincent Gallegos of Grand Rapids, Gail (Rory) Smith of Sparta, Shelly Rickert of Grand Rapids; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son Frank Gallegos, Jr.; daughter Sheilah Gallegos; three brothers and one sister.
