Phil was born August 11, 1938, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of the late Robert and Leila (Brookens) Chipman. Upon graduating high school, he joined the United States Army. After proudly serving his country and returning home to the States in 1960, he attended Central Michigan University where he met his forever bride, Judith Mae Linn. They were married on August 26, 1961, in Cadillac, MI. Phil and Judy had two children, Missy and Mike, and raised their family in Mt. Pleasant. They remained residents of Mt. Pleasant until moving to Arizona a few years ago.

Phil was a very involved member of his community throughout the years. It was important to Phil to give back through leadership roles in organizations including the Elks Club, State and Local Jaycees, Parks & Recreation Department, Community Mental Health Services and the Zoning & Appeals Board.

After a long career in the advertising/marketing field, he retired from his own business, RMM Direct Mailers, Inc.
As a lifelong sports fan, Phil participated in community softball, basketball, tennis and golf leagues. This also included taking on referee roles to support state-wide high school games and community leagues. He enjoyed his many rounds of golf, but most of all he loved spending time with family and friends.

Phil is survived by his wife of 61 years, Judith Chipman: children, Michele (Luis) Ybarra of Glendale, AZ, Michael (Kathryn) Chipman of Whitelake, MI; grandchildren, Leah (Diego), Olivia, Madison, Miranda & Logan and great-grandchildren, Liam and Marisol.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Chipman.
