Obituary for Randell D. Wells Sr.

Randell D. Wells, Sr., 75, of Midland, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. He passed peacefully at home with his wife of 40 years by his side.

Randy was born October 25, 1948, in Alexandria, Louisiana, the son of Jodie & Mary (Kile) Wells. He graduated from Tioga High School in 1966. He went on to attend LSU Alexandria. Randy married Susan (Vinson) Wells on June 16, 1984, in Midland. They spent 45 years together and they would both tell you they had a "great love". She affectionately called him "My Randy" and anyone who knew them well would refer to him that way.

Family was very important to Randy and he loved spending time with them. He also enjoyed traveling, being outdoors, and watching car races and derbies. In his younger days, he loved to hunt and fish, especially with his brother Danny Ray and brother-in-law Rodney. His favorite thing to watch in his spare time were old western shows.

Randy was strong in his faith for the Lord and loved to share that faith while visiting various churches during his travels in retirement. When he was home in Michigan, he attended Maranatha Baptist Church in Mt Pleasant.

Randy went to work at a young age for a local vet, Dr Jones. After college he had several jobs including working on an offshore oil rig, being a truck driver, and working on a pipeline before settling into a career of welding inspection and later becoming a non-destructive testing engineer. He co-owned his own business, Allied Inspection Services, for many years. During his career in NDT services, he was highly regarded and respected. After 25 years of loyal service, he retired from Consumers Energy as an NDT supervisor in 2010.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, Jodie Wells; mother, Mary (Kile) Elder; brothers: Danny Ray Wells and James Leon Elder; and brothers-in-law, Rodney Belgard and Joel Roan. He was also preceded in death by his beloved hound, Whoopsie Daisy.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Susan Kay (Vinson) Wells; daughter, Charlotte & (Matthew) Kleinhardt of Coleman, MI, and their children, Kylie and Logan; son, Randell Wells, Jr. of Henderson, NV and son, Bradley & (Megan) Wells of Fort Leonard Wood, MO and their children, Dean and Daniel; siblings, Carolyn (Wells) Belgard of MS, Gwen (Wells) Roan of LA, Robert (Patsy) Elder of LA, and sister-in-law Nelva Wells of LA; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Clark Family Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service, 114 S Bradley St, Mt Pleasant, MI 48858 with Pastor Beecher Williams officiating. The family will receive guests at the funeral home beginning at 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Randy's sister-in-law, Terry Hudson, for the dedication of her time and energy she gave to helping care for him in his last months, which made it possible for him to be home. We are forever grateful.

The family asks that contributions can be made in Randy's name to Residential Hospice or Midland Missionary Church earmarked for Women's Ministry.

For those not able to attend the service, the funeral chapel will be broadcasting a live feed of the service. You may access the livestream by clicking on the “Watch Webcast” icon beneath the obituary.
