Obituary for Robert Glenn "Bob" Heinlein
HEINLEIN, ROBERT GLENN, age 91, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday, September 19, 2022, at his home.
Funeral Services for Bob will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 11 a.m. with Benjamen Evers officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. A luncheon will take place at Reflections Reception Center following the interment. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 23, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Bob was born March 18, 1931, in Hocking County, Ohio, the son of Lemanuel and Phyllis (Spurrier) Heinlein. He married Barbara McLachlin on December 3, 1949, in Mt. Pleasant. Barb preceded him in death on July 6, 2007. Bob worked as a rigger and crane operator for Dow Chemical for 25 years, retiring in 1991. He and Barb owned Heinlein Mums and Heinlein Strawberries for many years. Bob loved his classic cars and was a member of the Rod Benders Car Club. He also enjoyed reading old western books, hunting, and was a member of NRA.
Bob is survived by his children, Don (Diane) Heinlein of Mt. Pleasant, Dave (Kasey) Heinlein of Mt. Pleasant, Janet (Randy) Mogg of Weidman; 9 grandchildren, Chris Lyon, Matt Lyon, Stephanie Gerth, Mike Heinlein, Jeremy Heinlein, Caleb Heinlein, Hanna Heinlein, Austin Leach, Josh Leach; 13 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; sisters Marge Dickie of Clare, Joann Bellingar of Mt. Pleasant, and Carol Browne of Mt. Pleasant.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife Barbara; daughter Kaye (Andy) Bahr; brothers Jim, Bill, Ralph; sisters Betty, Janet, and Sandy.
