Obituary for Ronald Lynn Johnson

Ronald "Ron" Lynn Johnson, age 80, of Harrison, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at MyMichigan Health-Midland after complications from heart valve replacement surgery. Ron was born on July 8, 1943, in LeRoy, Michigan. He was the son of Myrland K Johnson and Fannie Elizabeth (Sutton). Mr. Johnson honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and was stationed in Greece. Ron was united in marriage to Sandra Kay Christian on February 13, 1976. Sandy proceeded Ron in death on September 5, 2007.

Ron resided in Harrison since 1983, moving from Springport, Michigan. Ron spent many years as a truck driver for Transport Services, Hot Oil Operator for Kalkaska Construction, and him and Sandy owned their own restaurant, "Sandy's Restaurant" in Springport, Michigan. Ron was a member of the American Legion post 404 of Harrison, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3541 of Harrison, and Harrison Moose Lodge and Family Center #2235. Ron enjoyed playing guitar, singing karaoke, dancing, fishing, cheering for his beloved Detroit Lions and Tigers, spending time with his special friend Gail and surrounded by his family and friends.

Ron is survived by five children: Gary Mead of Lansing, Michigan, Theresa "Terry" Smith and husband Larry of Harrison, Theresa Hemme and special friend Chris Nall of Biloxi, Mississippi, Bill Johnson and special friend Jamie of Harrison, and Angela Hoskey and husband Jim of Harrison. Ron has eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Ron was closest to his siblings Denny Johnson and wife Sue of Harrison, Carolyn Lee and husband Kit of Perry, Michigan, Tina Outinen of Chassell, Michigan, and Greg Johnson and wife Karen of LeRoy, Michigan, he has many other siblings.

Ron was proceeded in death by his wife Sandy, parents Myrland Johnson, and Fannie Giddings, step parents Ellis Giddings and Alice Johnson, brothers Jeff Johnson and Butch Giddings.

Celebration of Life services honoring Ron will be held on Monday, November 13t h from 4pm to 8pm at the Moose Lodge of Clare. If you would like to join and say a special memory of Ron, it would be appreciated. Military honors for Ron will be presented by the United States Department of Army and American Legion Post 404 Honor Guard immediately following service.
