Obituary for Roxanne Mary "Roxie" Schafer (Sheppard)

SCHAFER, ROXANNE "ROXIE" MARY, age 69, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018, at her home.

A Memorial Mass for Roxie will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, March 10, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Loren Kalinowski officiating. Per Roxanne's wishes, her body was gifted to Michigan State University. The family will receive friends at the church the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of the service with a Luncheon immediately following at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Animal Treatment Society or the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at Clark Family Funeral Chapel and Sacred Heart Church.

Roxie was born on April 7, 1948, in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Joseph and Rita (Schafer) Sheppard. Roxie was a hairstylist for a number of years before working at the Mt. Pleasant Regional Center as a housekeeping supervisor for 17 years. Roxie was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the VFW Auxiliary Post 3033. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Roxie had a green thumb, and it showed in her gardening and landscaping. She loved spending time outdoors and traveling with RIchard over the last 10 years. Time with her nieces and nephews, and their families, was a special joy for her. She always spoiled them with treats.

Roxie is survived by her sister, Charlotte Birgy; brother, John (Marjorie) Sheppard; special friend, Richard Gruss; nieces and nephews, Amy Jo Graham, Patrick Birgy, Robert Birgy, Angela (Joe) DeBrincat, Gabriel (Anne) Sheppard, Rachel (Bobby) Hazelton, Sarah (Brad) Grant and their families.

Roxie was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister, Mary Theresa.
