Obituary for S. Lucile Prout (Bissell)

PROUT SARA LUCILE, age 91, of Rosebush, devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend left this earth on January 27, 2019. She is resting peacefully in the presence of God Almighty.

Lucile graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School night classes in 1960. She married on her 15th birthday to her late husband, Delmer Prout. They were married 42 years when he passed away. She worked several jobs; however, she predominately worked for the Isabella County Drain Commission, where she retired after 31 years. She was also a known volunteer in the community. Her service included Central Michigan Community Hospital, Leaton United Methodist Church, Life Choices of Central Michigan, as well as being helpful to many individuals in the community. She was awarded an Eagle Award from the Mt. Pleasant Community Foundation and a Dove Award from the United Methodist Women Organization. She was a devout Christian, one of true faith. She was a member of Leaton United Methodist Church for most of her life and a member of the United Methodist Women.

Lucile found great joy in the achievements of her family. From kindergarten graduations to college graduations, hunting and horseback riding, band, poetry and theater productions, sporting events and building projects, to truck pulls and mud bogs. Lucile was proud of everything her family accomplished. She was a social person and enjoyed visiting with people. When home, she enjoyed watching Tigers Baseball and watching the news. Everyone was welcome at her kitchen table and there is a good chance you could catch a ball game while you were there. She will be remembered for her faith in God, love for her family, and her kindness and gentle soul.

She is survived by her 3 children, Barb (Larry) Miller, Henry “Hank” Prout and Norma Prout; 8 grandchildren Carrie (Ed) Manning, Julie (Michael) Viele, Matthew (Andrea) Miller, Brian (Jennifer) Prout, Randy Prout, Heather Prout, Jerry Ruemmler, 19 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren; sisters Dot DeVore and Es (Frank) Westmoreland, brothers Ron (Carol) Bissell and Bill Bissell; and sister-in-law, Gerri Bissell.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Delmer Prout, grandson Bradley Prout, daughter-in-law Deborah Prout, siblings Alma, Donald and Russell Bissell, and her parents.

A Celebration of Life for Lucile will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Thursday, January 31, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Michael Palmer officiating. Interment will follow in Denver Township Cemetery. A Luncheon will be held at the Leaton United Methodist Church following the Committal Service. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 30, from 2 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue the day of the service from 12 noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Life Choices of Central Michigan and Leaton United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
