Obituary for Sandra Lea Nelson (Cox)
Sandra Lea Nelson 53 of rural Harrison passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, June 10, 2020. Sandra was born December 9, 1966 in Westland, Michigan the daughter of George and Laura (Graham) Cox. Sandra was united in marriage to Mr. Gary Charles Nelson Sr. on June 26, 1996 in Westland.
Mrs. Nelson had resided in rural Harrison since 2000, moving from Westland. Sandra enjoyed Cooking, fishing and hunting. She was her children’s biggest fan, always at every practice and game, cheering for them from the sidelines. She loved being surrounded by her children and grandchildren, making memories and quality time spent together. Another passion of Sandra’s was her love of animals.
Surviving Mrs. Nelson is her loving husband of twenty-three years, Mr. Gary Charles Nelson Sr. of rural Harrison, one daughter, Nisa Almaraz and husband Jason of Austin, Texas, five sons; Kevin Bartush and wife Olivia of Canton, Michigan, Shawn Bartush and wife Crystal of New Boston, Michigan, Gary Charles Nelson Jr. of Monroe, Michigan, Anthony Nelson of Clare, Michigan and Vincent Nelson of Harrison, her father, George Cox of Howell, Michigan, eight grandchildren, two brothers; Daniel Cox and wife Cristy of Westland, Michigan and Jimmy Cox and wife Shannon of Canton, Michigan, plus many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her mother.
