Obituary for Sandra Elizabeth Buyers (Miller)
Sandra Elizabeth Buyers age 80 of Harrison passed away at her home surrounded by family on Sunday, December 31, 2023.
Sandra was born June 26, 1943 in Romulus, Michigan the daughter of Carl Miller and Isabelle (Stevens) Miller. Sandra graduated from Romulus High School, Class of 1961. Sandra was united in marriage to Mr. Raymond “Ray” William Buyers on July 22, 1963 in Detroit, Michigan. Ray preceded Sandra in death on February 25, 2023 after fifty-nine years of marriage. Mrs. Buyers had resided in Harrison since 1979, moving from Oak Park, Michigan.
Sandra was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Harrison. She enjoyed spending time with her family, helping her husband run the family business, traveling throughout the United States on vacation, spending winters in Florida, being outdoors, bowling, having cocktails with family and friends, making ceramic keepsakes and visiting various casino’s.
Mrs. Buyers is survived by her three daughters; Maria Meranda of Harrison, Denise Graves and husband Brian of Harrison and Michelle Crowe and husband Joe also of Harrison, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, three siblings; Karen, William “Buddy” and Marion, a sister-in-law, Cherlyn and husband Larry, plus many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Sandra also was preceded in death by her parents, one son, William “Bill” Buyers on December 27, 2001, one grandson, Joey Paul Meranda, two great-grandchildren; Jayce O’Toole and Kayla Meranda, two sisters; Eva and Diane and four brothers; Bob, John, Freddie and Ron.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Sandra will be held Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Athanasius Catholic Church, 310 S. Broad Street, Harrison, with Rev. Father J. Marcel Portelli officiating. Visitation will take place on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Burial will immediately follow at St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery, Harrison, Memorial gifts in memory of Mrs. Buyers may be considered to the family.
