DECKER, SHIRLEY LOU, age 100, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday, January 26, 2024, at Isabella County Medical Care Facility.
Per Shirley's wishes, cremation has taken place at Daisy Hill Crematory in Mt. Pleasant. https://www.daisyhillcrematory.com/ and no services are planned at this time. Burial of ashes will take place at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Mt. Pleasant. Envelopes will be available at Clark Family Funeral Chapel.
Shirley was born January 1, 1924, in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Raymond and Georgia (Marden) Martin. She married Warren Leslie "Jim" Decker in 1950; he preceded her in death in 2010. Shirley worked as a buyer and secretary/treasurer for Giant Supermarket for over 50 years. She loved the time she served on the Mt. Pleasant Chamber of Commerce, was named Citizen of the Year in 1985, and was the first woman to serve on the Board of Directors of Isabella Bank and Trust. Shirley volunteered for many years for Central Michigan Community Hospital and United Way. She was active in the United Methodist Church, Isabella County Commission on Aging, Zonta Club, Mount Pleasant Community Foundation, Isabella Medical Control Board and Inter Service Council.
Shirley is survived by sisters-in-law, Donna Martin and Sherine Martin; nieces and nephews, Randy (Jane) Martin, Ried (Karen) Martin, Ron, (Gloria) Martin, Renae (Chris McGuire) Martin, Glennie (Jim) Bilbry, Candy (Frank) Polzin, John (Carol) Hoyle, Missy (John) Etienne, Jack (Debbie) Martin, Tania Martin, and Tim (Jackie) Martin; and many great-nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Warren "Jim" Decker; siblings, Eleanore Hoyle, Tom Martin, and Richard Martin.
