FOSTER, SHIRLEY JEAN, age 85, of Mount Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at her daughter’s home with her family by her side.
Funeral Services for Shirley will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Monday, August 1, 2022, at 11 a.m. with Benjamen Evers officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Shirley was born in Daybrook, West Virginia, on August 10, 1936, the daughter of Madison and Goldie (Haught) Moore. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School with the class of 1955. Shirley married Melvin “Mel” Foster on June 30, 1956, and he preceded her in death January 13, 2016. Out of high school, Shirley worked for the Ward Theatre and the family-owned A&W Drive Inn. She retired from CMU Dining Services after 30 years. Shirley loved to roller skate, skating well into her late 60’s. As a young girl, she raced stock cars and snowmobiles. Shirley also liked to bowl, bowling on leagues 2-3 times a week. Quilting, traveling, and spending time with her grandkids were her favorite things in her most recent years.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Klein of Mt. Pleasant, Robbin Tanner of Alma; daughter-in-law Bev Foster of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren Mikey Klein, Amanda (Corey) Logan, Trevor Gillis (Alejandra Martinez), Kody Klein, Samantha Gurski (Patrick Hebert), Tannor (Logan) Shackelford, Leslie Klein; great-grandchildren Alysha, Rachel, Dylan, Hayden, Isaiah, Maiyah, Isaac, Donovan, Rory, Piper, Kyle, Veda, Darius, Jordan; and brother Eric (Connie) Moore of Mt. Pleasant. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, includeing great and great-great, who she loves dearly.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Randy Foster; son-in-law Terry Gillis; son-in-law Mike Klein; brothers Bob and Gary Moore; sisters Belva York, Phyllis Breedlove, Jackie Cotter; and sister-in-law Janice Moore.
