Obituary for Shirley A. Ralston
RALSTON, SHIRLEY A., age 85, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday, January 15, 2024, at her home.
Funeral Services for Shirley will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 3 p.m. with Benjamen Evers officiating. Burial will follow at Chippewa Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association for Dementia Research. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
Shirley was born February 24, 1938, in St. Albans, Vermont, the daughter of Louis and Viola (Wicks) Hemingway. She married Richard Ralston, Sr. on March 8, 1955; he preceded her in death on May 22, 2009. Shirley worked at Tendercare in Mt. Pleasant for many years and retired as head of housekeeping. She attended Maranatha Baptist Church. Shirley was a wonderful baker, often baking for family members. She loved her drives in the country listening to George Strait. Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, crossword puzzles and word searches were some of her favorite things to do.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Richard (Trudy) Ralston, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, William Ralston of New Philadelphia, OH, Pat (Ruth) Ralston of Mt. Pleasant, Kelly Ralston of Mt. Pleasant; daughter Tammy Germain of Mt. Pleasant; 18 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard; son Eric Ralston; daughter Tina Ralston; and 9 siblings.
