Obituary for Sonja Anne Bozek (Kleppe)
Sonja Anne Bozek 83 of Harrison passed away suddenly at MidMichigan Medical Center-Clare. Sonja was born February 27, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Jacob and Charlotte (Martinsen) Kleppe. Sonja graduated from Cooley High School of Detroit in 1953. Sonja was united in marriage to Mr. Edward Mike Bozek in Angola, Indiana in 1956.
Mrs. Bozek retired from the City of Detroit as a School Crossing Guard after twenty-five years of dedicated service. In 2013, Sonja moved to Harrison from Detroit. She was a member of the American Legion Post 404 of Harrison Ladies Auxiliary, Women of the Moose Harrison Chapter 1804 and Harrison Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3541 Ladies Auxiliary. Sonja enjoyed reading, floral gardening, especially her beloved Hosta, collecting treasures from yard sales, travelling with her husband, watching the Weather Channel, where many times she would be found in her chair taking a nap to the soothing sounds of the Weather Channel’s soothing music. Sonja loved a good quality Coney Dog, and was considered a true connoisseur of them. She and her husband Ed enjoyed their daily lunches and visits at the Harrison Senior Center.
Surviving Mrs. Bozek is her loving husband and best friend of over sixty-three years, Mr. Edward Mike Bozek, four daughters; Karin Graber of Harrison, Barbara Leach and husband Michael of Milford, Michigan, Charlotte Bozek of Redford, Michigan and Jeanne Mogielski and husband Ed also of Redford, one son, Edward J. Bozek and wife Joan of Ypsilanti, Michigan, ten grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, plus many extended family members. Sonja was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Frank Bozek, one granddaughter, Samantha Graber and two grandsons; Daniel Berry and Joshua Berry.
Funeral services in honor of Mrs. Bozek will be held Friday, December 6, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with the Bozek family officiating. Visitation will take place on Friday, December 6, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan.
