Obituary for Stella Rose Rydman (Barber)

RYDMAN, STELLA ROSE, age 84, of Rosebush passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at her home under the care of Heartland Hospice.

Funeral Services for Stella will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Saturday, October 27, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Alan Rydman officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. A Luncheon will be held in the Reflections Reception Center following the Committal Service. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue the day of the service from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Baptist Church or Life Choices of Central Michigan. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.

Stella was born on September 1, 1934, in Farwell, the daughter of Avery and Lydia (Reynolds) Barber. She married Gordon Rydman on March 29, 1957, in Clare. Stella attended the Central Baptist Church and was the church choir director for 25 years. She was an avid poet, writing a book of poetry. She was a bowler in her younger years and enjoyed playing Scrabble and searching for four leaf clovers. Stella was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Stella is survived by her husband of 61 years, Pastor Gordon Rydman; children, Timothy (Deborah) Rydman of Macomb Township, MI, Daniel (Rita) Rydman, Sr. of Rosebush, Samuel (Deanne) Rydman of Mt. Pleasant, Pastor Alan (Sara) Rydman of Mt. Pleasant, and Rebecca Carolino of Timberlake, NC; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Ernie (Joslyn) Barber of Florida, Elton (Ethel) Barber of Coleman and Pontiac, Dewey (Vicky) Barber of Houghton Lake, and Bruce (Marylee) Barber of Central Lake; sisters, Helen Sanders of Farwell, Aletha June (Donald) Wallace of Clare, Verna Green of Clare, Wanda (Gene) West of Beaverton, Donna (Nelson) Clark of Coleman, and Marcia (Curt) Wagner of Arizona; sister-in-law, Lonna Barber of Clare; and many nieces and nephews.

Stella was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Don, Gerald, Ellis, Arlo, and Larry Barber.
