Obituary for Stephen Anthony Welters, Sr.
STEPHEN ANTHONY WELTERS, SR., age 65, of Shepherd passed away suddenly Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland.
Stephen was born on October 4, 1954, in Newberry, Michigan, the son of Francis and Marilyn Welters, Jr. After graduating high school from Newberry High School, he joined the United States Navy where he was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga and served in the Vietnam War. He married Shawn Doyle on December 6, 1986. Stephen started his own business Central Michigan Golf Carts out of their home in Shepherd in 1991. He enjoyed golfing, working out in the garage, being outdoors especially in the U.P., watching NASCAR, and talking with people.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Shawn Welters, of Shepherd; his children Stephen (Nichole) Welters, Jr., of Munising, MI, Rebecca (Phillip) Baranowski of Key West, FL, and Elliott (Krystal) Welters of Mt. Pleasant, MI; his grandchildren Kyle Welters, Alyssa Welters, and Connor Edinborough; his siblings Mary (Dave) Brown of St. Ignace, MI, David (Pam) Welters of Mio, MI, Robert Welters of Harrison, MI, and Kim Doyle of Grand Rapids, MI, and many nieces and nephews.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents.
Stephen wanted to be a donor and was able to do so through the Gift of Life in Ann Arbor, MI. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is planned for a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to The Welters Family.
