Obituary for Susan Carol Gawne

GAWNE, SUSAN CAROL, age 71, of Clare, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021, at her home on Resurrection Sunday with her family by her side.

A public visitation will take place on Friday, April 9, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Clark Family Funeral Chapel. The Funeral Service for Sue will take place at Maranatha Baptist Church on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Josh Middaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Gilmore Township Cemetery. Sue was born in Benton, Illinois, November 9, 1949, the daughter of Earl and Nellie (Smith) Sanders. She graduated from Brandon High School in Ortonville with the class of 1967. Sue married Jimmy Gawne on May 22, 1971, in Clarkston. She attended Maranatha Baptist Church and was a devout Christian woman who enjoyed singing, playing guitar, piano, and harmonica. Sue was very artistic; she liked decorating, painting, and floral arranging. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, and crafting. Sue was known for her cooking and feeding people. She loved her family and will be remembered most by being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Sue is survived by her husband Jim Gawne; daughters Amy (Dale) Roche of Brisbane, Australia, Christine (Heath) Hull of Clare; grandchildren Harrison and Emma; sister Cindi (Dave) Verwey of Mt. Pleasant; brothers-in-law Al (Cheryl) Gawne and Tom (Darcy) Gawne, both of Hadley; sisters-in-law Bonnie Sanders of Mt. Pleasant, Hazel (Bill) Flanders of Ortonville, Karen (Bennie) Harrison of Springport; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Nellie Sanders; brother Paul Sanders; brother-in-law Edward Gawne; and parents-in-law Paul and Marie Gawne.
